The true meaning of Watami in Japanese Kanji, WA stands for
Harmony and TAMI stands for People. Therefore Watami means
“gather people to dine in harmony”. Actually WATAMI comes from the name of the
founder, Watanabe Miki. Few weeks ago, me and few bloggers was at
1 Utama for WATAMI Japanese Casual Restaurant New Menu Review.
Mr. Takada Hiromitsu, Director Business Development Department, WATAMI Group |
I remembered the last time I dine here the restaurant was pork
free but now they have pork dishes in their menu. When I interviewed Mr.Takada
Hiromitsu, Director Business Development Department, WATAMI Group the
reason for this changes are to bring the originality of taste, variety dishes
and speciality from WATAMI Japan to Malaysia. So now we can enjoy the dining
experience like food, beverages and environment like in Japan.
You like Sake or Soju? With the Ishokuya concept that started since 1992, guest can wine and dine while enjoying the extensive menu and comfortable Japanese embience in WATAMI Japanese Casual Restaurant or Kajuaru Resutoran.
When I flip through the menu… wah there are so many choices, from authentic Japanese cuisine to modern casual menu. These are the new items on the menu that we tried that day.
Kushiyaki Moriawase |
Kushiyaki Moriawase RM19.90
This is the assorted skewers that consist of 5 skewers per serving
namely beef & spring onion roll skewer, chicken thigh skewer, pork &
cherry tomato roll skewer, chicken gristle skewer, chicken wing skewer. Well,
the one I find special is the chicken gristle skewer or it’s the chicken cartilage.
Its crunchy and I think not many restaurant serve this too. The rest of the
skewer are quite standard.
WATAMI Salad |
WATAMI Salad RM21.90
Something refreshing and light, WATAMI Salad with chicken, shrimp and
tuna mayo plus lots of fresh vegetables including steam broccoli.
Roast Katsu |
Roast Katsu RM23.90
This is the deep fried pork cutlet.
Wafu Pizza |
Wafu Pizza RM19.90
Thin crispy crust pizza topped with pork & teriyaki chicken. I
like this pizza, the teriyaki sauce and the crispiness of the crust topped with
pork and chicken.
Gomoku Kamameshi |
Gomoku Kamameshi RM26.90
This dish takes a while to cook. First we have to mix the chicken,
prawn and ebiko roe with the rice and stir and let it cook for about 15
minutes. Then stir again and served. Can taste the sweetness of the meat and
prawns plus fragrant of the rice.
Nagasaki Chanpon-fu Ramen |
Nagasaki Chanpon-fu Ramen RM26.90
Ramen! This is Nagasaki Style Ramen in pork broth that served with
with pork & seafood. Usually we had pork or chicken ramen but this is pork
and seafood ramen. The pork broth is directly import from Japan in liquid
format. Well, the ramen is springy and the broth is moderate not to thick or
light. I can taste the sweetness of the soup and they are quite generous with
the seafood and pork slices.
