adidas King Of The Road 2013 Malaysia

Last Sunday was a busy day for me, started my day as early as 5am. Get up, get ready, laced up my adidas BOOST and head over to Sunway Pyramid for adidas King Of The Road 2013 Malaysia run #KOTR2013. This is one of the major run in Malaysia, according to the data about 11,000 runners participated this year.

When I reached Sunway about 530am there were already so many cars, finding a carpark take some time. Takes about 15mins to queuue to go in to the Sunway Pyramid carpark. Lucky I managed to find one spot. Note to self will get be there early or carpool. Even though the day is still early when I reached there I can see huge crowd of passion and determinate runners. Most faces looking energetic and excited at 6am, amazing. They were All In for the Win #KOTR2013.

adidas King Of The Road 2013 Malaysia was officially flagged off by Y. Bhg. Dato' Mohd Shafiq B. Abdullah of the Ministry of Works. 

The run was held along NPE Highway, which has a unique elevated route across three key districts Subang Jaya, Petaling Jaya and Kuala Lumpur, also played host as the final leg of the adidas King Of The Road South East Asia. The adidas King Of The Road 2013 Malaysia also in celebration of the smart partnership between adidas Malaysia and IJM and in support of IJM’s 30^th anniversary.

Entertainment spots were set up along the route to help boost the energy of the runners. There were also cheers and encouragement by cheerleaders to encourage the runners making this a new experience for participants during this year’s race.

Also making a debut in Malaysia this year was the special junior category with a distance of 10 km for youths between the ages of 15 – 17 years old. Yeah! we should encourage younger generation to participate in more outdoor activities for healthier lifestyle.

The top two reigning champions from Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia came together to compete for this year’s Regional adidas King of the Road run with the crown going to Sgt Boonthung Srisung of Thailand who completed the 16.8km SEA men’s category run in 52 minutes and 35 seconds and Marygrace Delos Santos of the Philippines who completed the 16.8km SEA women’s category in 1 hour and 3 minutes. 

For this round I didn’t participate in the run but just to cover the run and race. However, I walked a lot, followed the runners a bit and climbed stairs too.
