Malaysia XI vs FC Barcelona: Neymar & Nike Inspire Malaysian Youths

Brasil and FC Barcelona striker Neymar made an unforgettable Hari Raya memories for young footballer Syafiq Salmi with a visit at his home in Ampang. He also accompanied Syafiq to his stomping ground, SMK Victoria Institution, to watch a small-sided game. As Neymar was welcomed by an excited crowd, Syafiq was cheered on by family and friends making him feel as much of a star as Neymar.

The young Malaysian proceeded to make his way onto the court, and took into action, showing skills that impressed Neymar and the crowd. The best moment was saved for the last when Neymar himself substituted for one of the players and gave the crowd a show with his quick and energetic skills with the ball. 

Neymar was truly home in his element growing up playing futsal and street football. With the final whistle blown, Neymar presented Syafiq with a new pair of the recently launched Nike Hypervenom boots. Making him one of the first in Malaysia to own a pair of Nike Hypervenom boots.

“It was like a dream when I saw Neymar appear at my doorstep! It is a treasured memory playing alongside my idol in our friendly kickabout. I will remember this day for a very long time” said Syafiq.  “Neymar is truly inspirational as he shared with me some words of advice personally and I vow to be the best footballer I can be” he further added.

This is the first visit to Malaysia for both FC Barcelona and Neymar. As part of the club's FC Barcelona Asia Tour 2013. Malaysia XI vs FC Barcelona on Saturday, 10th August 2013 at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium.
