The month of Ramadan is the month of giving and sharing with the
under privilege and poor. This year Guardian donating a total of RM360,000 to 6
Charities; The National Kidney Foundation of Malaysia, Pertiwi Soup Kitchen,
Desa Amal Jireh, Grace Community Homes, Rumah Titian Kaseh and Yayasan Chow
Kit. Guardian 46th Anniversary Charity Bonanza 2013 cheques
presentation was held at the Bijan, Fine Malay Cuisine Restaurant, Kuala
Lumpur.
This anniversary charity bonanza invites customers to donate RM2 and Guardian is adding value to their shopping with an exclusive charity card where customers enjoy 20% off on 22 renowned health and beauty brands.
Total donation collected is RM360,000 will be equally distributed to the 6 charities. Each charity shall receive RM60,000; the amount shall be payable on a monthly basis for a period of 12 months commencing August 2013. This will enable the charities to put to good use, to aid their programs and initiatives towards creating a better life for the women, children and those under their care.
After the cheques presentation ceremony we all buka puasa at Bijan Retaurant. The food was delicious and authentic. The sambal sotong, kerabu pucuk paku, ikan masak lemak cili api were good not forgetting the desserts and malay kuih muih.

The funds raised was donated to the following six charity
organizations.
1. National Kidney Foundation: The NKF children’s welfare fund
aimed at providing financial assistance to on-going children of NKF patients
with school expenses and rewarding the educational excellence of the patient’s
children.
2. Desa Amal Jireh: Provides a caring and loving shelter for
children who are orphaned, abandoned or neglected by their parents including
destitute senior citizens. Jireh charity village houses 115 children & 50
senior citizens.
3. Grace Community Services: GCS was formed with the primary
objective to generate community care, support and voluntary participation in
programs, activities and services for people with special needs ensuring they
have refuge and food, and counseled and cared for in the homes.
4. Pertiwi Soup Kitchen: PSK provides humanitarian food-aid and
medical service with volunteer doctors to the hardcore poor at various
locations around kuala Lumpur four nights a week. By interacting with various
destitute inner city communities, additional support programmes have been
established to assist those ready to become more independent.
5. Rumah Titian Kaseh: A sanctuary for single mothers and orphans
who have no families to care or protect them. A home that helps to nurture
their self esteem and strengthen their faith. Preparing the children to realize
their potential and the mothers to obtain financial freedom as a result of the
enterprising training including building their confidence to enter the
workforce.
6. Yayasan Chow Kit: YCK formally known as Rumah Nur Salam started
out as day care centre, and has since grown into a 24-hour crisis and drop-in
centre, providing meals, activities, therapy, case management and educational
programmes for at-risk children of chow kit. Protecting their rights and
providing a safe haven and exposing them to positive and holistic opportunities
to enable them to reach their full potential.
