Ramadan is just round the corner, I am looking forward for it.
Spicy and local Malay delicacies are my all time favorites. Some of my friends
and colleagues will definitely Buka Puasa at Paya Serai Restaurant at Hilton
Petaling Jaya every year, including myself. Berbuka Puasa or the breaking of
fast during the month of Ramadan at Hilton Petaling Jaya’s Paya Serai
restaurant is definitely an occasion not to be missed.

This year Paya Serai, the halal certified restaurant is going back
to the very essence of “kampung” style cooking by incorporating classic Ramadan
dishes as well as new signature dishes, created by the hotel’s Malay chef, Chef
Noor Hisham. “These dishes are inspired
by the food I enjoyed growing up with and it gives me great pleasure to share
these with our guests during Ramadan. Of course, there will be the all-time
favorites which have always had people flocking back to Hilton Petaling Jaya
without fail during Ramadan year after year,” says Chef Hisham, who will be
preparing dishes inspired by his home town of Perak.
Ready to savor the contemporary kampung delights. There are a few
new introduction mouth watering dishes to the Ramadan buffet spread. Now guests
can begin the “Buka Puasa” experience by indulging in the new signature dishes
including Sup Gearbox, Mee Rebus Tulang, Lamb Shank Beriani, Udang Goreng Daun
Kari and Ikan Patin Bakar Tempoyak.

Grilled catfish marinated in chilli padi, lemon grass, ginger and shallots
wrapped in banana leaf. If you are a tempoyak (fermented durian paste) lover
then this is jus awesome. Enjoy the kicking aroma and the creamy fish meat.

My favorite dish, i love this lamb shank seasoned with different spices and cooked with ghee.
Although new dishes are the features for this Ramadan, Paya Serai
will not overlook popular dishes that have kept people coming back for more
every year. Savour famous dishes like Daging Rendang Tok, Bubur Lambuk, Ayam
Perchik, Ikan Terubuk Panggang and Nasi Bokhari Ayam. With a wide selection of
dishes to choose from appetisers, main course and mouth-watering desserts, one
day at Paya Serai is not enough especially when the menus rotate every
day.

I think this is the most popular dish in Paya Serai. Bubur lambuk
is porridge cooked with spices, beef and dried shrimp.

Simple dish but the sambal is best when you have rice. Ikan terubuk is river herring fish. Grilled and marinated with chef’s secret ingredients and
wrapped in banana leaf.

coconut milk.
