Time to get active and get moving! Guardian’s Annual
Charity Walkathon attracted over 1500 people on 8th Sept at the Surf Beach
at Sunway Lagoon Theme Park .
This walkathon not only for our health it also has it objective to generate
health awareness and raise funds for the National Stroke Association of
Malaysia (NASAM).
The eager participants came as early as 7.00am to register
and were given each a meal voucher, visors and wrist band and a ticket with
gives them access to Sunway Lagoon Water
Park , Amusement Park and Wildlife Park which they can enjoy after the
walk.
The morning started with fun family activities that
included face painting, balloon clowns and information sharing display boards
that highlights useful health tips and advice on how to lead a healthy life.
The walkathon is aimed at highlighting the importance of a
healthy and balanced lifestyle in addition to raising funds for a worthy cause.
This year’s walkathon managed to raise RM 15,000 to support NASAM’s
rehabilitation program for stroke patients as well as to make stroke rehab
accessible to as many stroke survivors as possible especially to the poor and
those living in rural areas.
Before the flag off, the participants enjoyed a warming up
session in a popular Latin inspired dance fitness routine called Zumba with a
trained Zumba instructor. Participant
then completed a 3km walk whist some 30 NASAM strokees did not miss out on the
fun and finished the dedicated 500m route. After the walk, the activities
continued with more Zumba dancing, stage activities and lucky draw for all.
Guardian Charity Walkathon was tied in with a special
concourse promotion in Sunway Pyramid showcasing the participating brands;
Bio-essence, Berocca, Colgate, Complan, Ensure, Flavettes, Guardian, Kordel’s, Lennox , Lifebuoy, L’oreal, Nivea, Omron, Opti-Free,
Panaflex, Tiger Balm and Vaseline. The promotion which ends on 17 September
offers product sampling and information on the latest health & beauty
products available in addition to great deals and discounts.
