Konnichiwa! Tokyo Street 1st Anniversary this July

Sunshine Smiles :D
Maneki Neko (Japanese Lucky & Fortune Cat) from Tokyo Street, Pavilion KL

Wow so fast, Tokyo Street at Pavilion KL already 1 year old since its opening in July 2011 (Tokyo Street, Pavilion KL Official Opening). As a regular shopper at Pavilion KL definitely Tokyo Street is one of my favourite precinct to hang out, look out for cute stuff at Action City, admiring the lomo cameras at the The Click Shop, dining at Suki-ya and Ramen Santouka, chilled out at En Ginza Cafe, never come out from Daiso and Matsuri Mart empty handed and many more happiness.

ようこそ (Yokoso

Throughout the year there were many exciting and engaging exhibitions, events
and promotions that keep Tokyo Street busy. And there will be lot more
coming up soon from time to time...

Thanks to Pavilion KL for bringing Tokyo Street to Malaysia whenever I missed
Japan there is a place for me to go to experience authentic
Japanese culture, food and fashion.

Last week, I took a tour around Tokyo Street to discover the exciting line-up in store for Tokyo Street’s 1st anniversary celebration. This tour showcased the unique and authentic cultural offerings of Tokyo Street, the first-of-its-kind in Southeast Asia, which boasts a dynamic mix of contemporary eccentricity and cultural heritage. This unique precinct of Pavilion KL has attracted locals and tourist alike with its enclave of vibrant shops, cafes and restaurants, placing Malaysia on the global map of world tourist destinations.

Kung Suan Ai, Director of Marketing for Pavilion KL

Leading the exclusive tour, Kung Suan Ai, Director of Marketing for Pavilion KL said, “To provide a truly authentic and holistic Japanese experience at Tokyo Street, we have brought to life the very essence of Japanese culture and heritage via a refreshed tenant dynamic, enhanced look-and-feel and a series of unique events and showcases. Tokyo Street has undoubtedly opened the world of Japanese culture and traditions to Malaysians while offering the comforts of home to the local Japanese community, right here in the heart of Kuala Lumpur.”

Kicking off Tokyo Street’s first anniversary celebration, shoppers will enjoy treats at various participating outlets. From food and beverage discounts to getting a portrait in a Yukata or Harajuku costume; taking up the thousand-year tradition of bonsai planting; indulging in cranking the gashapon toy vending machine; or learning Japanese tea art. There is something that is sure to tickle everyone’s fancy on Tokyo Street.

Tokyo Street celebrates its 1st year anniversary with a Japanese-themed summer festival. Throughout the month of July, immerse yourself in Japanese food and street snacks, take a self-portrait while dressed in Yukata and Harajuku costumes, observe the 1000 origami cranes overhead and indulge in Japanese cakes at the cake festival. Don't forget to grab a Fukubukuro (Japanese goodie bag) or test your luck at the Japanese lucky draw to win some goodies.
