Hey I

Actually it is better to use cards for payment than carry so much cash around.
By the way, have you try the using Visa payWave? It is a payment method that
allows us to make purchases without physically swiping through the payment
terminal. All we need to do is just wave our card at the reader and go, that’s

However,
lately there are speculations about digital pickpocketing and contactless
payment fraud causing some of us to question its safety and security features.

your facts right and understand more about contactless payment security by
checking out this Contactless Payment Fraud: Separating Myth from Reality video
below.
Whilst
there are staged demonstrations showing how credit card details could be
extracted electronically through a contactless card by card scanner or reader, this
scenario is complex to execute in reality.
Visa
payWave has been introduced in Malaysia since 2007 and is safe. Visa regards
security as a top priority, and has very high security standards and risk
management processes in place to protect all Visa transactions. The security
features of Visa payWave enabled cards:
Visa payWave
card must be within 4cm to the reader to initiate a transaction
• Visa
payWave card must come very close within 4cm to the reader to initiate a
transaction
• Visa
payWave-enabled cards contain an embedded chip that uses advanced cryptographic
unique code that changes for every contactless transaction
• The
power and global reach of the VisaNet system to help identify and prevent
fraudulent transactions.
Alright,
let me show you how do I use my Visa
payWave card.
Visa payWave logos at the point of sale |
Step 1: Check
Look for
the contactless and Visa payWave logos at the point of sale.
Just Wave the Visa payWave card at the reader for payment |
Step 2: Wave
Inform
the cashier you would like to pay with Visa payWave. The cashier enters the
purchase amount into the terminal. This amount is displayed on the Visa payWave
reader.
When the
first light blinks, hold or wave your Visa payWave card over the reader (within
4cm) where the Visa payWave icon is displayed.
Payment done and ready to go! |
Step 3: Go
A green
light will indicate when the transaction is complete. You can choose to have a receipt
printed, but this is optional. No signature or PIN is required for transaction
up to RM250 for some bank cards, it’s done and you are ready to go!
Where Can You Use your Visa payWave Card? |
Do you
have any Visa PayWave debit or credit card? You might be wondering if you
accidently walked past the Point of Sale (POS) reader, you will not unknowingly
made any purchase at all. For a purchase transaction to go through, your card
has to be waved within 4cm of the contactless terminal for more than half a
second.
On top of that, the retailer must have first entered the amount at
their POS system for you to approve or wave your Visa payWave card at the
reader. Visa terminals can only process one payment transaction at a time,
therefore reducing transaction errors.
Overall,
I have been using my Visa payWave credit card since 2015 and there is no fraud
or double charges or what so ever. I usually request for printed receipt for my
record purposes. The payment transactions are smooth, fast and convenient. Just
wave the card at the reader and go.
