Are you craving for Japanese food today? I am so let’s talk a about Japanese
Fusion Food. Well, what is the first thing that comes to your mind when you think
of fusion food. As for me, the words combine, surprise and explore immediately
pop up in my mind. Fusion food is the combination of various forms of
cookery, cuisine, style and comes in several forms. Last week I was at this
fresh and newly opened IKU Japanese
Fusion Sushi at Damansara Uptown together with some bloggers and friends. IKU
means “to go” or “to visit” in Japanese. So let’s IKU and Itadakimasu! Unleash
your taste bud with me...
Chef
Yama, the co-founder of IKU Japanese Fusion Sushi at Damansara Uptown and also Yama
& J Japanese buffet restaurant at Jaya One is master Chef and man behind
this Japanese fusion food chain.
Chef Yama, co-founder of IKU Japanese Fusion Sushi |
Chef Yama has more than 20 years of experience
in New York and he is also one of the apprentice of Mr Michihiku Skakuchi San,
the Master Chef New York.
Let it
be Dine or Dash at IKU Japanese Fusion Sushi offers varieties of healthy fast food
at an affordable price for all day dining from breakfast, lunch, dinner and tea

According
to Chef Yama, fusion is in the sauce, he has created 10 different sauces besides
using the traditional soy sauce and wasabi combo to go with the sushi and bento
box such as honey wasabi, spicy mayo, yuzu, mango and strawberry and others sauces.
Fusion Salmon
Belly Osaka RM12.80
|
Must Try! The Fusion Salmon Belly Osaka is one of the Chef specialty fusion sushi, the fresh and succulent salmon belly flamed and glazed with the house specialty sauce. It's flavourful and the sauces not over powering. I shall go back for this dish again.
Fusion
Mango Wakiki RM8.80
|
The whole combination of this Fusion Mango Wakiki is savory and has a hint of sweet tangy because of the mango. This is great as an appetizer.
Besides
that, there are also a good selections of bento boxes that comes with a choice of meat (fish or chicken or seafood), 2
pieces of Japanese Lasagna sushi, some pickles, salad or edamame or both and Japanese rice with IKU's signature sauce.
Sashimi Bento RM18.80 |
The Sashimi Bento is one of my favourite, I love the fresh salmon, white fish and prawns sashimi. Oh ya, this bento box does not come with rice but it was substitute with a good portion of salad, edamame and Lasagna sushi. I like it because this is great for those who want to reduce their carbs intake.
Chicken Teriyaki Bento RM13.80 |
Chicken Teriyaki Bento is a good choice of healthy and tummy filling meal. The portion of the Chicken Teriyaki and rice are quite big. However, I wish they could add some vegetables like fresh salad or Japanese cucumber or tomato; that will be great.
Not only that, we also tried a lot more dishes like the udon, soba, porridge and don. In IKU Japanese Fusion Sushi there is something for everyone from young to old.
Unagi Don RM26.80 |
A satisfying and generous portion of Unagi Don only cost RM26.80. It comes with sliced tamag, Japanese pickles and topped with the delicious and flavourful glazed unagi and house special sauce. Simple savouring.
Japanese
Curry Chicken RM12.80
|
The curry chicken spiciness is mild and not thick so for those who can take too spicy food can still eat this. Suppose to dip the crispy chicken karaage into the curry and eat with the rice.
Prawn
Soup Udon RM12.80
|
Big prawns, sliced naruto maki, eggs and springy udon in the sweet seafood soup base. You can add a bit of chilly to give a hint of spiciness.
Seafood
Soup Udon RM12.80
|
Cold
Soba RM7.80
|
Salmon
Porridge RM5.80
|
They even served salmon porridge, which is good and the price for a hearty bowl of hot porridge is only RM5.80. If you do not feel like eating raw food or not feeling that well I think the salmon porridge is good for you anytime of the day.
Cold Matcha Chocolate, Matcha Latte, Matcha White Coffee RM6.80
Iced Matcha Passion Puree, Matcha Green Apple, Matcha Lychee Rose RM5.80
|
Of the six types of drinks I tried, I personally like the Cold Matcha Latte |
Overall, I find that IKU Japanese Fusion Sushi has a good selection of food, the service is fast and affordable. The food price is from RM5.80 to the most expensive is the Unagi Don RM26.80. I can have a healthy and hearty Japanese meal for average RM15.00 in a restaurant in Damansara Uptown, I think its value for money.
This restaurant service is very fast despite of the crowd they have, so if you are really in the rush just grab the ready pack food and go. Its so convenient and at the same time you are eating healthily. The furniture including the decor concept is very simple, minimalist and neat. It makes the place looks spacious and neat. The whole restaurant ambience is friendly and modern.
