Retro Sunsplash 3 is on with a bigger bolder better party/event planned, as many have shown interested to contribute and participate. Retro Sunsplash 3 is set to be a street party/carnival, to be held on Sunday, 10 June 2012 at 3 Two Square, Petaling Jaya. The event targets to attract more than 1,000 people and RM20,000 in cash contributions.

The donations collected from Sunsplash 3 will go to Pusat Jagaan Kanak-Kanak Kurang Upaya KIRTARSH. A non-political, non-religious, non-racial and non-profitable organization specially established to look into the needs of ‘special children’. Entrance to the event is free and party-goers are welcomed to put in their contributions in donation boxes which will be strategically located around the event area. There will also be a Lucky Draw with great prizes to be won. Lucky Draw tickets are sold at RM 10 a piece. This event features 8 DJs and will start at 4pm [in spirit of Tea dance] and will end at approximately 2am.

Retro Sunsplash was originally conceived and created by two gentlemen who had grown weary and tired of the state of dance music, feeling that it had become repetitive and monotonous.

Veteran Dee Jays Francis Koh and Jay Subramaniam decided to bring the avenue of quality music from the yesteryears which they found a scarcity these days, to patrons who craved it. As constant community do-gooders, Francis and Jay knew that charity was also a seriously lacking trait from the entertainment industry. With the marriage between quality retrospective entertainment and charity, Retro Sunsplash was born!

The inaugural Retro Sunsplash was held in March 2011 at CJs in 32 Square, PJ. Featuring 10 famous and veteran DJs, Retro Sunsplash 1 attracted more than 300 people and amassed a total of RM 7,000 from donations alone. The venue, equipment and talent fees were all sponsored and the value of these was estimated at RM21,000. Pusat Penjagaan Kanak-Kanak Cacat Taman Megah was the recipient for the first ever Retro Sunsplash.

Due to popular demand, the second Retro Sunsplash was held three months later, in June 2011, also at CJs in 32 Square, PJ. The event also featured 10 famous as well as senior DJs and raised a total of RM 9,000 through donations from the 500 odd people who attended. The venue, equipment and talent fees were all sponsored and the value of these was estimated at RM25,000. The beneficiary of the second Retro Sunsplash, The Agathian Shelter in Section 8 PJ used the money to restructuring the back part of their home.
