The Stage was setup like a boxing ring
It was a glitz and glamour roaring twenties night at One World Hotel Ballroom on 29th March. The 9th BOH Cameronian Arts Awards 2012 (9BCAA) celebrated the best achievements in the Malaysian performing arts industry.
The 9BCAA returned after a one-year hiatus to once again give recognition to the best dance, music, musical theatre and theatre performances of 2011.

Outside the ballroom many people dressed in twenties and enjoyed dancing
The prestigious 9BCAA was organized by the twelve-year performing arts platform Kakiseni and is sponsored by BOH Cameronian Tea, the premium tea of BOH Plantations. The 9BCAA announced 26 winners who were selected by an independent judging panel of 20 performing arts professionals. Also awarded were the Kakiseni Audience Choice Awards in Dance, Music, Musical Theatre and Theatre to winners who were chosen by fans of the performing arts in an online poll held in April.

Kakiseni’s Low Ngai Yuen said, “The return of the BOH Cameronian Arts Awards is meant not only to preserve a long-standing tradition in the performing arts scene but serves also to spur growth of the industry.”
This year Kakiseni introduced several new additions. Firstly, Kakiseni announced the winners of the technical categories in a separate event to allow more spotlight on the people working behind the scenes. The 9BCAA Technical Awards 2012 took place over an elegant afternoon tea party on 10 April 2012 where 10 awards were given out. You can find out more about the event HERE.
Secondly, Kakiseni launched the Backers Audition Kuala Lumpur 2012 (BAKL), an initiative to create performing arts financing options for the industry. Held on 27 April 2012, the BAKL saw Kakiseni receiving nearly 43 applications from various performing arts practitioners and companies including upcoming and established ones coming forward to pitch their ideas and proposals.
The 9BCAA is also supported by PWC (Ballot Partner), Alexis (Nominees’ Party and 9BCAA Music Category Awards sponsor), Capri Communications (On-ground partner), gua.com.my (Online partner), Astro, 8TV, A Cut Above, MASS Make-Up by stevensunny, Heineken, Bluebee Tunes, Enfiniti Studio, Creature Communications, Pola Cipta and Talent Hub.
